Recap: Rye Thunderbolts vs. Salida Spartans
The Rye Thunderbolts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Salida 52-24. Rye has struggled against Salida recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Rye lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Taci Ehrlich, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Salida's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Graysa Kindle, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaija Saari, who scored 12 points.
Rye bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.2 points per game. As for Salida, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rye will square off against Colorado Springs Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colorado Springs Christian will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Salida, they will head out on the road to square off against Peyton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Peyton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
