Baseball Recap: Kalkaska Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cheboygan on Monday, Kalkaska came back down to earth. The Blazers fell 5-1 to the Evart Wildcats on Thursday.

Kalkaska saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Ingersoll, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Sam Fitzgerald also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Kalkaska's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Evart, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4-1.

Coming up, Kalkaska will be playing in front of their home fans against Sacred Heart Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Irish's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Blazers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Evart, they will take on Manistee at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday.
