Gibbs came tearing into Wednesday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cocke County Fighting Cocks a 4-0 shutout. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last five contests.

The team relied heavily on Brianna Baker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

Gibbs' win was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 36-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cocke County, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 29-5-1.

Looking ahead, Gibbs will challenge David Crockett at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.1, the Pioneers 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cocke County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Unicoi County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games the Blue Devils have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
