Football Recap: Corunna Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Corunna extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They took a blow against the Goodrich Martians, falling 55-7. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Martians are ranked 28th).

When it comes to explaining why Corunna lost, don't look at Carter Milton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown.

As for Goodrich, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games.

Jakoby Lagat continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 344 yards and five scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. Those 344 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corunna will host Kearsley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Goodrich, they will challenge Fenton at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. The Martians will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests.
