Basketball Game Preview: Ridgeland Titans vs. Germantown Mavericks

Ridgeland hasn't had much luck against Germantown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ridgeland Titans will take on the Germantown Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. Ridgeland will be strutting in after a victory while Germantown will be coming in after a defeat.

Ridgeland is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Holmes County Central: they outscored them in every quarter. Ridgeland enjoyed a cozy 51-33 win over Holmes County Central on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Titans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Germantown fought the good fight in their overtime game against Brandon on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 45-42. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 15th).

Ridgeland will need focus on slowing down Julia Glasgow, one of several Germantown players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Glasgow is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Gamberine, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Ridgeland's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Germantown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Ridgeland was taken down by Germantown 68-40 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Ridgeland, Madison Booker (who went 10 of 18 on her way to 30 points in addition to five boards and five steals) won't be suiting up this time.
