Basketball Game Preview: Providence Athletic Club Panthers vs. Ben Lippen Falcons

Providence Athletic Club is 1-7 against Ben Lippen since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Providence Athletic Club Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Ben Lippen Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Providence Athletic Club knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Ben Lippen likes a good challenge.

Two weeks ago, Providence Athletic Club came up short against South Charlotte and fell 76-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 181st in South Carolina, while the Thunder are ranked 496th in North Carolina).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Freeman Bult, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Lara, who went 6 for 15 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Providence Athletic Club smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ben Lippen beat Northside Christian Academy 73-63 on Tuesday.

Providence Athletic Club's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Ben Lippen, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.

Providence Athletic Club suffered a grim 69-47 defeat to Ben Lippen in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Providence Athletic Club avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
