Softball Recap: Monroeville's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Monroeville dropped their record down to 19-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Hillsdale Falcons, falling 20-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 5-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2019.

As for Hillsdale, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Hillsdale's part, Jordyn Fickes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those four hits gave Fickes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Schmitz, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Monroeville and Hillsdale should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 99th) will meet New London (ranked 351st) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hillsdale will square off against Waynedale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (124 vs. 431).
