Basketball Recap: Pierce Finds Home Court Redemption Against Lutheran-Northeast

There's no place like home for Pierce, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They rang in the new year with a 50-42 victory over the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles on Friday. This was payback for the Bluejays, who suffered a 39-24 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lutheran-Northeast's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Feddern, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Artagnan Taylor, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

Pierce's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Lutheran-Northeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pierce won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Boone Central at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Boone Central will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Pierce surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lutheran-Northeast, they will face off against Wakefield at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
