Soccer Game Preview: Charlottesville vs. Handley

The Charlottesville Black Knights will head out on the road to take on the Handley Judges at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Charlottesville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Millbrook a 5-0 shutout. It was an even better day for Amin Zakari as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Handley came tearing into Monday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Colonels as they made off with an 8-1 win. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Handley's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while James Wood are ranked 143rd).

Handley's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 49 goals over those ten games. As for Charlottesville, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 14-0-3.

Charlottesville came out on top in a nail-biter against Handley when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Black Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Judges turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
