Softball Recap: Spring Grove Takes a Loss

Spring Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 6-0 to the Goodhue Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Claire Sherburne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Spring Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brinley Middendorf, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Spring Grove now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Goodhue, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Spring Grove will face off against Lyle/Pacelli at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goodhue, they are taking a road trip to challenge Stewartville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Tigers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
