Softball Recap: Resurrection Has No Trouble Against Payton College Prep

Resurrection got themselves on the board against Payton College Prep on Monday, but Payton College Prep never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 11-0 win. The Bandits might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Payton College Prep's batters probably weren't too happy with Kailey Janus, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (she gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, Resurrection got a massive performance out of Molly Reichenberger, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Reichenberger has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Skweres, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI and one triple.

Resurrection was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Resurrection is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Payton College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15-2.

Looking ahead, Resurrection will be playing at home against Maine West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Bandits surely won't give up without a fight. As for Payton College Prep, they will head out to face off against Amundsen at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
