Basketball Recap: Kaia Anderson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Perham over Marshall

Perham was the 75-69 winner over Marshall when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Perham Yellowjackets fell 74-62 to the Marshall Hilltoppers on Saturday.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaia Anderson, who went 8-for-17 en route to 21 points and six assists. Anderson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophie Nelson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

Anderson wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Perham was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They racked up nine more assists than Marshall's also-impressive total of ten.

Leading Marshall to victory were Chloe Johnson and Candice Ndomb. Johnson went 12-for-19 on her way to 30 points and three steals, while Ndomb dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Marshall's points. Cairin Berger was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Perham's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Marshall, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Perham has already played their next contest, a 62-32 win against Staples-Motley on the 11th. As for Marshall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 92-63 victory against Mesabi East on the 13th.
