Basketball Recap: Lapoynor Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact LaPoynor can now relate to. They took a 71-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grapeland Sandies. The Flyers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sandies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why LaPoynor lost on Tuesday, don't look at Cort Reid. Despite the final result, he posted 34 points along with eight boards and four steals. The match was Reid's 14th in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Williams, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

LaPoynor's loss dropped their record down to 23-11. As for Grapeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

LaPoynor does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grapeland, they will square off against Mart on Thursday. Mart will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Grapeland surely won't give up without a fight.
