Softball Game Preview: CAM Cougars vs. Essex Trojans

The CAM Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Essex Trojans on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (CAM has eight straight victories, Essex has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

CAM is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Underwood with a sharp 20-1 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Essex came up short against East Mills on Friday and fell 14-10.

CAM pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Essex, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

CAM took their victory against Essex in their previous meeting back in June of 2017 by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
