It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but East Surry ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Surry Central Golden Eagles 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

East Surry has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Surry Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.

East Surry will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
