Baseball Recap: Central Rebels vs. North County Raiders
Central had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-6 to make it seven. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North County Raiders. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly five runs.
As for North County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
For North County's part, Zak Meador was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Meador has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Simon, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North County, they will head out to challenge Valle Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
