Recap: Ada Cougars vs. Putnam City Pirates
It was a good run, but the Ada Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Putnam City by a score of 52-49. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Ada came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Putnam City is ranked 206th).
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keith Cook, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Carter Colombe, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Ada's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Putnam City, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Ada and Idabel will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Idabel's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Putnam City, they will head out on the road to challenge Grant at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grant is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
