Basketball Recap: Owen Valley Takes a Loss

Owen Valley lost against Clay City back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Owen Valley Patriots had to suffer through a 60-30 loss at the hands of the Clay City Eels. The match marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Owen Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Donavin Newby posted 14 points and five rebounds.

Owen Valley dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Clay City, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing North Putnam the next time they take the court. Owen Valley will head out to face North Putnam at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while Clay City will play them later in the day, at 12:30 p.m.
