Basketball Recap: Parker Hardgrave Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat East

There's no place like home for Southeast, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-56 victory over the East Aces on Tuesday. The Golden Buffalo have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Aces, too.

Southeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Hardgrave, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Hardgrave is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 12 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Laws, who went 6 for 11 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Southeast was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East only posted six assists.

East's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Henderson, who posted 14 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Phillips-Grey, who put up 14 points and seven rebounds.

Southeast has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for East, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

When Southeast and East next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Southeast will try to stop Bishop Carroll's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southeast is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. Meanwhile, East will face off against St. James Academy and their three-game winning streak at 3:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
