Football Recap: Edison Tech Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for Edison Tech's offense. They were beaten by the Monroe Red Jackets 70-0 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Inventors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 556th, while the Red Jackets are ranked 28th).

A big part of Monroe's victory came down to the chemistry between Pooty Cunningham and his top target Ray Garcia. Cunningham threw for 296 yards and six TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes while Garcia gained 110 total yards and three touchdowns. Jermaine Montgomery Jr helped Cunningham out on the ground, picking up 23 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 43 yards.

Edison Tech is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Monroe, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Edison Tech will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Vertus at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Monroe, they have already played their next game, a 22-11 victory against Edison on the 4th.
