Basketball Recap: Cromwell Takes a Loss

After flying high against McGregor last Friday, Cromwell came back down to earth. The Cromwell Cardinals came up short against the Deer River Warriors on Monday, falling 101-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (71), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Cromwell still got an impressive performance from Brady Dahl, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 boards. The contest was Dahl's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Nyberg, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Cromwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Cromwell's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Deer River, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1.

Cromwell and Northland will face off at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Deer River, they will head out on the road to take on Mountain Iron-Buhl at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
