Baseball Game Preview: Mulberry Panthers vs. Lake Wales Highlanders

Mulberry hasn't had much luck against Lake Wales recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Mulberry will challenge Lake Wales at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mulberry had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt IMG Academy Gray on Friday. Mulberry never let IMG Academy Gray get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Not much got past Jayson Blouin, who gave up just five hits to keep IMG Academy Gray off the board. The dominant performance also gave Blouin a new career-low in walks (one).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Griffin Cline, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Hayden Wyatt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Lake Wales can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past Lakeland 8-2.

Carter Finnell was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brody Welborn, who scored four runs while going 1-for-4.

Lake Wales kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lake Wales now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Mulberry, their record now sits at 13-5.

Mulberry came up short against Lake Wales in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can Mulberry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
