Baseball Recap: Delavan Triumphs

Delavan won the last time they faced El Paso-Gridley and things went their way on Saturday too. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Titans 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Braden Arrenholz was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Bryson Horning was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Trace Kight-Garlisch was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Delavan now has a winning record of 6-5. As for El Paso-Gridley, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Coming up, Delavan will square off against Altamont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for El Paso-Gridley, they will take on Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
