Recap: Fremont Tigers vs. Omaha South Packers
There's no place like home for the Fremont Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Omaha South with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 74-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fremont found their leader in underclassman Coriahnn Gallatin, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gallatin has scored all season. Maurice Bryant was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Omaha South's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lou Hodoly, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Mar Cantu who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Cantu scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Keegan Kimble, who scored nine points.
Fremont's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Omaha South, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Fremont will be playing at home against Kearney at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fremont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Kearney is ranked 33rd). As for Omaha South, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-63 win vs. Omaha Northwest on the 10th.
