Softball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Hancock Eagles

The Argo Argonauts will face off against the Hancock Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Argo fell victim to Shepard and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Astros. The Argonauts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Hancock suffered their closest defeat since April 3rd on Friday. They fell just short of Oak Lawn by a score of 4-2.

Alyssa Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Hancock saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Pinal, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Another was Bella Garcia, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Argo's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Hancock, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-13.

Argo came up short against Hancock in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, falling 12-7. Can the Argonauts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
