Softball Recap: Santa Cruz Valley Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Santa Cruz Valley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Pima Roughriders 11-1 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Dust Devils, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Melody Cade was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was Mariah Davis, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Santa Cruz Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pima only posted a batting average of .250.

Santa Cruz Valley's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pima, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Santa Cruz Valley will face off against Tombstone at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pima does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
