League recap: Gonzales dominating on the mound for Ferris

3A Region II District 11 league recap: 3/13/13

Abrian Gonzales was the best pitcher in 3A Region II District 11 this week, leading Ferris. He won one game and struck out nine batters.

The Yellowjackets had a successful week, as they won two total games to lead the league. Ferris beat Scurry-Rosser 9-6 and Kemp 2-1.

The Yellowjackets' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 14 hits and nine walks to lead the league in both categories.

Wilmer-Hutchins had a league-high 23 steals as a team this week, but still trails Ferris, which has 49 on the year, for the season lead.

The Eagles' Devin Haynes was locked in this week, and led the league with a .429 average (3-for-7) over that span. He's batting .308 on the year, which puts him at 11th in the league. Haynes has totaled four hits this season.



Gonzales led the Yellowjackets to a win on March 9, as he notched nine strikeouts to beat the Yellowjackets, 2-1. Over his six innings pitched he allowed one run on three hits.
