Baseball Game Preview: Vista Ridge Wolves vs. Pueblo West Cyclones

For the second straight game, Vista Ridge will face off against Pueblo West. The Wolves will head out to face off against the Cyclones at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Vista Ridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Pueblo West on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to the Cyclones.

For Pueblo West's part, they got a great performance from Cam Mares as he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Kaden Garcia was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Blake Mares was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Pueblo West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Vista Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Vista Ridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pueblo West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts.
