Football Recap: Fairfield/Augusta Comes Up Short

Fairfield/Augusta and Lincoln County squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Fairfield/Augusta had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Lions and fell 47-13. The defeat continues a trend for Fairfield/Augusta in their meetings with Lincoln County: they've now lost six in a row.

Although Fairfield/Augusta took the loss, they still got scores from Saber Allen and Brodie Carper.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Carper, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Lincoln County had a senior duo take command as Rogan Lytle rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries and Josh Lambertsen rushed for 67 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Lambertsen has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Fairfield/Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 4-5. As for Lincoln County, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Fairfield/Augusta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln County, they will square off against Red Lodge/Belfry/Roberts at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln County will need to watch out since Red Lodge/Belfry/Roberts has now posted at least 31 points in their last five games.
