Baseball Recap: Sarasota Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Sarasota Christian's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Sarasota Military Academy Eagles with a sharp 11-1 win. With that victory, the Blazers brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

James White made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. White was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He also put up a stolen base, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Evan Poznanski and Justin Brock did most of the damage at the plate: Poznanski scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Brock scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Brock has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Randall Collins, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sarasota Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sarasota Military Academy only posted an OBP of .261.

Sarasota Christian pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs over those games. As for Sarasota Military Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Sarasota Christian will be playing at home against Keswick Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sarasota Military Academy, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles take on the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sarasota Military Academy has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
