Basketball Recap: Osceola Piles Up the Points Against Hollins

Osceola won the last time they faced Hollins and things went their way on Thursday too. The Osceola Warriors blew past the Hollins Royals, posting a 44-17 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Osceola's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrian Jenezon, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks. Jenezon has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilese Smolka, who scored nine points.

Osceola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Hollins had strong showings from Cecilia Tith, who earned five points along with five boards and five steals, and Summer Morgan, who had seven points and five steals. That was a full 41.2% of Hollins' points, marking the ninth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Liz Ospina also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Osceola's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Hollins, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season.

Osceola has already played their next matchup, a 61-35 loss against Indian Rocks Christian on the 24th. As for Hollins, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-20 victory against Admiral Farragut on the 24th.
