Basketball Recap: Aiken Extends Winning Streak to 13

Aiken hadn't done well against Taft recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Aiken Falcons put the hurt on the Taft Senators with a sharp 78-55 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-33.

Aiken got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was James Burnett Jr. out in front who went 9 of 13 en route to 24 points and four steals. Burnett Jr. continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Antwan Hinton was another key player, going 11 for 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 13-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.2 points per game. As for Taft, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.

Aiken didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 95-47 victory against Westland on the 25th. Taft has also already played their next contest, a 92-53 win against Linden-McKinley on the 25th.
