Basketball Recap: Chester Comes Up Short

Chester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Brookeland Wildcats and fell 96-36. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-12.

Brookeland was led to victory by Landon Smith and Cade Morgan. Smith went 12 for 27 on his way to 30 points in addition to eight boards and five steals, while Morgan dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten boards, and 12 steals. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Beckett, who posted 11 points along with five assists and four steals.

Chester's record is now 3-10. As for Brookeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Chester will head out to square off against High Island at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chester is facing High Island at the right time seeing as High Island is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Brookeland, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Brookeland Wildcats face off against the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hull-Daisetta will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Brookeland surely won't give up without a fight.
