Softball Recap: Crater's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Crater dropped their record down to 8-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Thurston Colts by a score of 6-5. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Thurston, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

For Thurston's part, Kasey Ogan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Daphnie Heckel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Raygan Litle was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

While Crater had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
