Basketball Recap: Brooklyn Technical Takes a Loss

Brooklyn Technical was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 56-37 bruising from East New York Family Academy. While losing is never fun, the Engineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while East New York Family Academy are ranked 71st).

Arianna Mercado continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East New York Family Academy, going 10 of 18 en route to 23 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. The contest was Mercado's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Amariah Clyne was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Brooklyn Technical's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for East New York Family Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Brooklyn Technical will head out to challenge Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on January 24th. East New York Family Academy has already played their next game, a 65-57 loss against Moore Catholic on the 19th.
