Basketball Recap: Lusajo Kasyupa Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

On Wednesday, the Veritas Christian Academy Eagles were able to grind out a solid victory over the Crystal City Hornets, taking the game 73-61.

Veritas Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lusajo Kasyupa led the charge by going 8 for 15 on his way to 26 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Niemeyer, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Veritas Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Crystal City, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Veritas Christian Academy will head out to face off against Bishop DuBourg at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Crystal City, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Meadow Heights at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Meadow Heights' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
