Basketball Recap: Newington Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

Newington extended their home winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Kendall Miller. The Newington Nor'easters were the clear victor by a 43-22 margin over the Platt Panthers on Tuesday thanks in part to Miller, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points along with six assists and four steals. What's more, she also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Hope Romanello, who posted six points and 19 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.

Newington is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Platt, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

When Newington and Platt next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Newington will try to stop Southington's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Platt will take on Plainville and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
