Volleyball Recap: Salem Academy Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Salem Academy couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Burns Hilanders on Saturday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Crusaders of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Burns can attribute much of their success to Bailey Temple, who had 18 digs and four aces. Temple has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Salem Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-9 record this season. As for Burns, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 27 of their last 29 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 40-2-1 record this season.

Salem Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Burns, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Catlin Gabel on the 8th.
