Baseball Recap: Ontario Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ontario ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Chaffey Tigers 7-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 back in March.

Noah Acevedo and Jacob Estrada did most of the damage at the plate: Acevedo got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Estrada went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Acevedo is becoming a predictor of Ontario's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-8-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Damien Lua, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Ontario's win bumped their record up to 11-8-1. As for Chaffey, their record is now 6-16.

Ontario will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
