Baseball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Fayetteville's Winning Streak

After a string of three wins, Fayetteville's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thrall Tigers. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 8-3 to the Tigers when the teams met back in March of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kandon Kaspar was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

In other batting news, Lawson Fritsch was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Chance Konvicka was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Fayetteville suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Thrall, they pushed their record up to 17-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fayetteville will welcome Shiner at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thrall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Thrall 2.7, Rogers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
