Basketball Game Preview: Gadsden County Jaguars vs. Crossroad Academy Scorpions

Gadsden County and Crossroad Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Gadsden County Jaguars will square off against the Crossroad Academy Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Gadsden County came up short against Walton and fell 43-31.

Meanwhile, Crossroad Academy was able to grind out a solid win over St. John Paul II on Wednesday, taking the game 57-46. Given the Scorpions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Panthers are ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crossroad Academy's win came from a few key players Gadsden County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Camari Hale, who posted 13 points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jabari Boahen, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Crossroad Academy and bumps their season record up to 10-7. As for Gadsden County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Gadsden County didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Crossroad Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gadsden County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
