Streator never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Ottawa on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 16-6 win. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Isiah Weibel made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Cole Winterrowd was incredible, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4. Clay Christoff was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Streator always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Streator's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Ottawa, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Streator will take on LaSalle-Peru at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ottawa, they will challenge Somonauk at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
