Softball Preview: Ridgevue Warhawks vs. Meridian Warriors
The Ridgevue Warhawks will head out on the road to square off against the Meridian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgevue comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Ridgevue lost 15-3 to Boise on Friday.
Ridgevue saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Rogers, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Bristol Baron also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Meridian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Borah by a score of 27-22. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Maddie Clark was incredible, firing off two home runs, ten RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-7. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Dunkle, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-7.
Meridian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meridian's record is now 8-6. As for Ridgevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
Ridgevue took their victory against Meridian in their previous meeting back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 12-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
