Softball Game Preview: King George Foxes vs. Culpeper County Blue Devils

King George has gone 7-1 against Culpeper County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Foxes will head out on the road to challenge the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. King George is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

While King George's win against Courtland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Foxes had just enough and edged out the Cougars 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Foxes have posted against the Cougars since May 15, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Kayla Smith, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Intihar, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Meanwhile, Culpeper County came up short against Caroline on Thursday, falling 18-9. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

With the win, King George broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-4. As for Culpeper County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

King George got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Culpeper County by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Foxes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
