Softball Recap: Ocosta Wins Going Away Against Oakville

Ocosta won the last time they faced Oakville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 29-2 margin over the Acorns. Considering the Wildcats have won three matchups by more than 14 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Joanah Rosander made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, two triples, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ocosta got a massive performance out of Elly Mirante, who went 3-for-5 with five runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Mirante has posted since back in April of 2024. Sophie Olive was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Ocosta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Ocosta is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.6 runs over those games. As for Oakville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Ocosta and Oakville will both be playing Wahkiakum the next time they take the field. The Acorns will head out to face the Mules at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
