Softball Game Preview: Pennington Tigers vs. Locust Fork Hornets

The Pennington Tigers will head out to square off against the Locust Fork Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Pennington has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, Pennington didn't have quite enough to beat Holly Pond and fell 15-14. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.

Raegan Blackwood was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Wiggins, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Locust Fork got the win against Hanceville on Monday by a conclusive 8-1. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Pennington's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Locust Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Pennington took their win against Locust Fork in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-8. Will Pennington repeat their success, or does Locust Fork have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
