Softball Recap: Evangelical Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Naples

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evangelical Christian). They never let the Naples Golden Eagles get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Reese Niemier made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Evangelical Christian got a massive performance out of Samantha Yzaguirre, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Yzaguirre has posted since back in May of 2024. Taylor Davison was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Evangelical Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Naples only posted an OBP of .167.

Evangelical Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Naples, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Coming up, Evangelical Christian will challenge Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Naples, they will square off against Aubrey Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
