Baseball Recap: Lutheran North Find Success

Lutheran North took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against MICDS, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Crusaders had just enough and edged out the Rams 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted against the Rams since May 4, 2018.

Kyler Reno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Lutheran North: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Lutheran North gave Chris Ray the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

Back at the plate, Addison Reynolds was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jace Bateman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lutheran North's record now sits at 10-7. As for MICDS, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-3.

Lutheran North will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rams: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
