Baseball Recap: Midland Classical Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Midland Classical Academy came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Monahans Loboes by a score of 5-1 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 last Friday.

Levi Bayley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cam Gilbert was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayson West, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Midland Classical Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Monahans, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midland Classical Academy will host Non Varsity Opponent at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Monahans, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Horizon at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Horizon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
