Softball Game Preview: Copper Basin Cougars vs. Andrews Wildcats

The Copper Basin Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Andrews Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Copper Basin has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Copper Basin hadn't beaten Hiwassee Dam on the road since March 23, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 3rd.

Kloie Ballew was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alexis Hyatt was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.

Meanwhile, Andrews was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 19-0 to Murphy.

Andrews' defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Copper Basin, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Everything went Copper Basin's way against Andrews when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Copper Basin made off with a 10-2 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
